Stockton, California is found several miles east of the San Joaquin River and approximately 90 miles inland from the San Francisco Bay. Stockton provided a maritime way point for freight shipping and passenger transportation from the Bay into the Mother Lode’s Gold Rush county.

The Story of USS Lucid (MSO-458)
The Lucid is an Aggressive-class ocean-going minesweeper (MSO) and a true sister ship, or exact copy, of three vessels built in Stockton for the United States Navy at Colberg Boat Works in the early 1950s. Lucid herself was built in 1953 by Higgins Industries in New Orleans, Louisiana. She served her country for 23 years until 1976.
